Not a Music Blog

I don't want to write a big introduction. This is a place where I will post my ideas, and music that I like.

Written and produced by Mike Sempert
Performed by Mike Sempert, Christopher Walsh, Jill Heinke, and Brian Michelson

D Numbers 2010 release 'ONDA'  is great. It is missing the element of Rock and Roll that their previous album savored but it is not without the moments of Psychedelic layering.

D Numbers is based out of Santa Fe New Mexico. The three of them changed my idea of what is possible with instrumental music.  D Numbers is a band that should be on everybody's watchlist. They shared the stage with Birds and Batteries for the ONDA Release party in Santa Fe. Soon after that show I was lucky enough to catch Birds and Batteries again and after seeing them twice they too quickly became a new favorite.
I have been lucky enough to closely watch some of the evolution of D Numbers. Their sound grows tendrils like their equipment on stage grows cables.  As strange as it feels to describe their previous release 'Light Parade' as "stripped down" it seems that way in comparison to ONDA. ONDA isn't more textured or excited but it does make me realize how much I appreciate the way that "Light Parade" sounds like a rock band as opposed to a symphony of computers.
